PATRON SAINT: St. Mark the Evangelist
HISTORY: St. Mark’s was built to serve the housing estate in 1936, replacing the Hall built as the first church
in 1928. The interior was re-designed in the mid-60’s in a contemporary style so that the worship
area is ‘in the round’.
ST. MARK’S COMMUNITY PROJECT : The Project has been running for over 20 years and seeks to serve
the elderly, disabled and young families. It also gives a home to a
Disabled Learners Group during the week.
Activities: Monday-Friday Meals are delivered within a 1½ radius to the elderly
in the community.
Tuesday- Friday: Lunch Club in the Hall. Community transport is used
to bring clients to the Hall.
Monday/ Wednesday and Friday 9.30 am - 11.30 am Playgroup
Tuesday and Thursday 9.30 am - 11 am Parent and Toddler
Wednesday 6pm - 9pm Dance School for children aged 5+
Thursday 6pm - 8.30pm Slimming World
There is involvement from ‘Sure Start’ in the under 4 activities.
